Morehouse fans utilized the Frosted Flakes tagline “They’rrre Great!” in salute of the Tigers’ incredibly dominant performance against the Wildcats of Fort Valley State. The Tigers amassed 445 yards of offense and converted five (5) Wildcats miscues into 29 points en route to a dominant 51-3 win.

The handwriting was on the wall early. M-Tigers DB Joel Girtman, Jr. punched the ball out of the arms of Wildcats return man Hakeem Ellington on the opening kick-off. Marques Gibson recovered the ball for Morehouse.

Fort Valley’s mistakes kept occurring and Morehouse kept scoring. In an attempt to avoid a sack, quarterback Tyrell Jackson pitch to Emanuel Wilson went through the running back’s hands and onto the turf. Tyler Hunter recovered the loose ball for Morehouse.

Morehouse recovered five of the six fumbles committed by Fort Valley State. The M-Tigers’ lead ballooned to 44-0 by the end of the first half. Michael Sims threw for 225 yards and a touchdown while rushing for another. Frank Bailey, Jr. gained the bulk of the rushing yards with 11 attempts for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Earnest Davis rushed for another two touchdowns.

The Wildcats crossed the 50-yard line five times reaching the red zone twice. Fort Valley’s second set of downs in the red zone resulted in their only points, a 27-yard field goal by Andre Labat.

Morehouse improves to 2-1 (2-5) with a trip to Benedict a week away. Fort Valley dropped to 2-1 (4-3) and face Clark Atlanta when it returns home next week.
