There is no college football rivalry more intense than the one between the Clark Atlanta University (CAU) Panthers and the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers. Separated by an invisible dotted line, the proximity of the two schools breeds contempt every time a game is scheduled.

Saturday’s game just happened to be scheduled for Senior Day at CAU. After the 40-0 smacking the Maroon Tigers gave the Panthers on Morehouse’s Senior Day, a little get back was due. And get it back the Panthers did. It wasn’t a shutout but the Panthers dominated their rivals from across the sidewalk for three quarters.

CAU leading rusher Roger Thomas gashed the Morehouse defense for 199 yards in his last collegiate game. Thomas had seven rushes of 10 yards or more including two over 30 yards.

A pair of field goals and a 26-yard touchdown reception by red-shirt senior wide receiver Josh Banks late in the second quarter gave the Panthers control of the game 13-7.

Morehouse managed a pair of field goals but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the energized Panthers 17 second-half points.
