Oglethorpe earned its first winning streak behind a five-goal performance from senior midfielder Israel Pendleton-Moore by defeating Point University 12-6. The back-to-back victories are the Stormy Petrels first since winning a pair over Brevard and Randolph in March 2023.

Pendleton-Moore’s success comes on the heels of a five and seven-goal performance by teammate Quade Bedgood IV. Wednesday’s scoring barrage was the most by the senior middie this season and a welcomed injection of offense the Stormy Petrels will need to refine before they start conference play in three weeks.

Point University was paced by five goals from graduate student Thomas Van Alstine. Van Alstine scored the first four goals -including the first goal of the game- for the Skyhawks, before Malyke Sillers added one with 2:54 remaining.

Head coach Jordan Coates from Monmouth said this about his team’s performance.

Coates’ counterpart Scott Dangel credited his defense for disrupting the Skyhawks offense and providing scoring opportunities. Eleven of the Skyhawk’s 28 turnovers were forced by Oglethorpe defenders. Coach Dangel talked about the areas he would like to see improve before they travel to Brevard next Wednesday.
