Georgia Tech’s swarming defense helped the offense use the break to open up a lead-swapping first quarter and coast to an 84-58 win over the visiting Samford Bulldogs.

Head Coach Karen Blair replaced her bigs with guards to match the quickness of the Bulldogs. Reserve guards Ines Noguero, Sofia Munoz, and Leyre Urdiain played most of the minutes alongside starters Erica Moon, Jordan Ode, Talayah Walker, and La’Nya Foster.

Sophomore guard Jordan Ode had a big night, leading the Jackets in scoring with a season-high 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Ode attacked the Bulldogs with dribble drives and spot-up daggers from beyond the arc.

The Jackets converted 12 steals into 20 fast-break points. Erica Moon and Talayah Walker split eight of those steals. Samford players struggled from the floor in three of the four quarters. The Bulldogs shot a combined 33.3% from the field, including 20.8% from the arc.

Kaylee Yarbrough scored a team-high 15 points on 5-of-13 shooting. Yarbrough was the only Samford player in double figures.
