Savannah State scored 15 unanswered points to defeat Morehouse 15-3 at B.T. Harvey Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Morehouse struck first with a 25-yard field goal off the foot of Olubade Baker in the second quarter. Derrach West’s 13-yard pass to Dallas Johnson set up the score.
A short kick-off from the Maroon Tigers gave the orange and blue-clad Tigers a short field to work with.
Tigers quarterback Jadon Adams used his legs to cap a four-play, 68-yard drive and take the lead. In his first collegiate start, the redshirt freshman weaved through the Morehouse defense for a 38-yard touchdown.
Savannah State added another touchdown in the third quarter on a 20-yard Adams completion to Brent Carr.
Kelvin Drummond sacked West for a safety late in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.
Adams finished the day with 152 yards on 9-of-12 passing. He scored one touchdown with his legs and one with his arm. Not a bad first start.
Savannah State returns to the shore where they will await Kentucky State a 14-40 loser to undefeated Benedict College.
Morehouse travels south to face another Tigers squad from Edward Waters College. The Jacksonville-based Tigers lost their game to Lane College on Saturday which dropped them to 0-4 on the season.
