Clark Atlanta got a little get back on Miles College Thursday night in Atlanta. The Panthers took the lead on their second field goal attempt and kept it until the 66-60 win was safely tucked away.

Jaden Martin came off the Panthers bench to score 10 points and play with energy on both ends of the court. The senior forward’s backboard shaking dunks, five rebounds, and steal helped CAU mount two big leads in each half.

The defense held Miles to 32.4% shooting from the field. Bigs Kharye Cayne and Jadyn Shider combined for six blocked shots. Shider’s block of Cameron Jernigan’s attempted dunk brought Epps Gym to its feet.

Miles found themselves in a 16 point hole on a jumper by Darnell Evans midway through the second half. Najashi Tolefree went to work over the next six plus minutes scoring 13 of his game high 19 points during the span.

Tolefree’s layup cut the Panthers lead to four. The Golden Bears wouldn’t get any closer. A pair of free throws by Evans and Camarion Johnson’s steal and dunk off the break pushed the Panthers lead back out to eight with two seconds remaining.
